Uses a standing pilot that stays lit. As long as the safety pilot is lit, you turn the burner system or or off manually using a control knob inside fireplace (Cannot be operated by remote control). For use in fully vented wood burning fireplaces burned with the damper closed, or for approved ventless gas fireboxes that accept aftermarket vent-free gas logs. For prefabricated fireplaces (either vented or ventless), you must refer to your owners manual to see if ventless gas logs are allowed or if there are any restrictions or limitations. Not for use in California or any other city or state that does not allow the use of ventless products indoors (consult with your local building department before purchasing).
