Pre-Season / Before Use:

• Clear away dust, pet hair, or debris from the burner and surrounding area.
• Test your remote, wall switch, or manual ignitor before the first burn.
• Confirm that your pilot light lights and holds properly.
• Check the logs for any shifting—vent-free logs must remain in their exact factory placement.
• Look out for unusual flame behavior (like lifting, yellowing, or odor).

During the Heating Season:

• Light the pilot as needed and observe flame pattern regularly.
• Avoid moving or adjusting logs—misplacement can cause soot buildup or unsafe conditions.
• Keep an eye out for dust or cobweb buildup around the burner.
• A quick professional checkup once a year is a good idea—especially before heavy use.

Important:

• Always leave glass doors fully open during operation to allow proper airflow.
• Refer to the manual to avoid voiding your warranty.
• When in doubt, call a professional instead of troubleshooting complex issues.

Where to Install

Vent-free gas logs can be installed in:

• Masonry fireplaces (natural brick)
• Prefabricated fireboxes
• Approved vent-free fireboxes

Just be sure to follow your owner's manual for proper installation and clearance guidelines.

Where Not to Install

Vent-free gas logs should not be installed in:

• Direct vent fireplaces or inserts
• Fireplaces not specifically approved for vent-free use
• Burners not designed for vent-free logs
• Areas where local codes prohibit vent-free appliances

Empire Comfort Systems Inc. warranties this hearth product to be free from defects at the time of purchase and for the periods specified below. Hearth products must be installed by a qualified technician and must be maintained and operated safely, in accordance with the instructions in the owner’s manual. This warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is not transferable. All warranty repairs must be accomplished by a qualified gas appliance technician.

Limited Five-Year Parts & Labor Warranty – All Components (Except Remote Controls, Thermostats, Accessories and Replacement Parts)

Should any part fail because of defective workmanship or material within five years from the date of purchase, Empire will repair or replace at Empire’s option.

Within five years from the date of purchase, Empire will pay reasonable labor to have that defect repaired at Empire’s option.

Limited One-Year Parts Warranty – Remote Controls, Thermostats, Accessories, and Replacement Parts

Should any remote control, thermostat, accessory, or replacement part fail because of defective workmanship within one year from the date of purchase, Empire will repair or replace at Empire’s option.
