Indoor vented gas logs give you a beautiful, natural-looking fire. With a little seasonal upkeep and common-sense safety, your logs can burn bright for years. Always check your manual before first use.

Pre-Season:

• Remove dust, cobwebs, or debris from the fireplace and burner.
• Test your pilot and ignition system.
• Ensure logs are in the proper position and haven’t shifted.

In-Season:

• Observe flame behavior periodically.
• Avoid rearranging logs unless your manual allows.
• If it’s been a while or you notice any changes in performance, a quick annual inspection by a certified tech can help keep things running smoothly.

Important:

• Keep glass doors fully open while the logs are burning.
• Follow your manual's cleaning and safety instructions to preserve your warranty.

Where to Install

Vented gas logs can be installed in:

• Masonry (natural brick) wood-burning fireplaces that have been converted to gas, with a fully functioning open flue or chimney
• Prefabricated solid-fuel wood-burning fireplaces converted to gas, with a working chimney or flue
• Outdoor wood-burning fireplaces converted to gas, with proper ventilation and an approved stainless steel burner

Always follow your owner’s manual for safe installation.

Where Not to Install

Vented gas logs should not be installed in:

• Direct vent fireplaces or inserts
• Vent-free fireboxes or fireplaces
• Fireplaces not approved for vented gas logs
• Fireplaces without proper ventilation
• Burners not designed for vented gas logs

For the best performance and safety, always use the burner system made specifically for your vented gas log set. Outdoor installations must use an approved stainless steel burner.

All Peterson vented ceramic refractory gas logs are warranted for as long as you own them (lifetime).

All Peterson vented burners are warranted for ten (10) years. Spk-26 controls are covered for three (3) years “all parts” warranty. The apk-17 valve is covered for two (2) years. All other Peterson valves, pilots and controls are covered by a one (1) year limited warranty (excluding batteries).

All Real Fyre® Vent-Free ceramic refractory gas logs are warranted for as long as you own them (lifetime). All Real Fyre® vent-free burners are warranted for ten (10) years. All Real Fyre® glass, gems and fiber-ceramic blend logs are warranted for five (5) years. All Real Fyre® valves, pilots and controls are covered by a one (1) year limited warranty (excluding batteries).

Real Fyre® Direct Vent Systems limited warranty highlights

The insert body and firebox are warranted as long as you own them (lifetime). Burner assemblies are warranted for ten (10) years. Ceramic glass panel is warranted for five (5) years (thermal breakage only). Gas logs are warranted for five (5) years. Electronics and gas controls are warranted for one (1) year.
